Cyber security skills are evermore critical as wearables, electronics, medical devices, vehicles, homes, etc. all become more connected. We have to ensure we prepare students with key skills to better understand both the opportunities and the threats that come with an increasingly connected world while at the same time provide them with in-demand skills needed for the world of work.

Recognizing this importance, last fall, ICTC and MediaSmarts partnered for a two-day Digital Youth Summit about digital literacy, digital citizenship and cyber security. On day two, students learned about cyber security career opportunities through speakers and mentors then immersed themselves in cyber security skills hands-on through an interactive exercise.

As a result, in addition to the CyberTitan/CyberPatriot annual competition, ICTC has created a learning series called CyberDays. Find out more about Cyber Day.

As well, we will be looking to expand our Focus on IT (FIT) Program for secondary schools to include cyber security skills. Find out more about FIT & Cyber Program.
